During the severe storm that affected Cornwall earlier this year, extreme wind speeds caused widespread ecological disturbance. It is estimated that thousands of trees were uprooted or broken, many failing due to saturated soils and prolonged wind stress. Beyond the immediate physical damage, the loss of these trees represents a significant reduction in habitat, carbon storage, and landscape stability.
For communities, the fallen trees were not only data points in storm impact assessments, but familiar features of the landscape — reminders of how suddenly and profoundly natural systems, and our relationship with them, can be altered.
These 12 photographs were made on the 25th of February 2026, Just over one month from storm Goretti that happened on the 8th and 9th of January.
These photographs were made in Trevaylor Woods, Just above Trevarrack.
Edition of 50, 12.5 × 18cm, laser printed, signed.
